The Snapchat History Timeline

If you’re curious about the Snapchat history timeline, you’re not alone. It’s one of the most popular social media sites in the world, with over 100 million active users. In fact, Snapchat started as a social network with an undergraduate student as CEO. The first users were university students at Stanford. Evan Spiegel’s father invented the application, which was initially known as Picaboo. However, Picaboo’s name was already trademarked by another company. In November 2013, Mark Zuckerberg tried to acquire Snapchat for 3 billion dollars. However, that didn’t happen, so the Snapchat history timeline is much more interesting.

Snapchat was founded by Bobby Murphy and Evan Spiegel in 2011, and was a popular app that disappears after a few seconds. It wasn’t intended to be a sexting app, but its popularity soon spread to Orange County high schools. While Snapchat initially gained notoriety as a sexting app, it’s now a billion-dollar tech giant with over 100 million active users and a daily video-sharing app. In fact, Snapchat has so much success that investors think its parent company is worth over $100 billion.

Snapchat’s rise to fame didn’t come without its challenges. The two co-founders had a falling out and cut co-founder Bobby Brown out of their business deals. However, Snapchat has since recovered and launched a separate app for kids under 13 years old called Snapkidz. As of July 2019, the company has employed 4209 people and sends approximately 34.1 billion messages a day. In 2016, Snapchat surpassed the one billion daily active users mark and reached 7 billion video views per day. The company’s first stock sale is anticipated to begin in 2017.
